Hello wonderful Tiptoe Tiger readers,
Thanks for joining me this week. As a reminder, only five weeks of Tiptoe Tiger left until this newsletter is more or less retired.
In the meantime, more of the good stuff…
This week:
Isochrones
Words to Describe Someone’s Voice
Boss Sequencer
Curiosities of the Sky
Paul Westerburg - 49:00 of Your Life
Isochrones
By way of this curious youtube video where the creator was trying to make a map of time, that is a geospatial representation of a place based on how long it takes to get between any given points, I learned about Isochrones.
Isochrones are very similar, they’re maps that represent how long it takes from a single point to all other points on the map.
So, sure they sound kind of nerdy cool but they’re also historically, very gorgeous. Here’s an Isochrone of Paris in 1882:
Groovy, man.
This is the very first Isochrone ever made from 1881 that shows travel time from London (this one has a key at the bottom):

Words to Describe Someone’s Voice
For the record, visually, I am not a fan of this infographic but I guess it does the trick.
I do enjoy seeing this many words that describe the voice together though. The qualities of the voice, sometimes glaring, can also slip by us unnoticed and having words to describe the voice help us hear it better.
I had a hard time reading the graphic and not hearing the voice in my head change to adopt the qualities I was reading about. You can hear them all in your head.
Boss Sequencer
This is just a fun little web oddity that’s well executed. Press play in the top left corner then start pressing the big colorful buttons on the left and hear a song come to life.
Nothing serious.
Curiosities of the Sky
I was looking for some outer space visual inspiration for artwork to accompany some upcoming music I have coming out and I came across this book, “Curiosities of the Sky” from 1909.
I haven’t read anything in the book but the pictures, grainy and in pitch black and white, fill me with fuzzy wonder. Observe:

Even the “drawings” showing the arrangement of constellations have a certain charm to them:
Paul Westerberg - 49:00 of your life
Some Paul Westerberg (singer from The Replacements) rough cuts I’ve been enjoying lately.
Thank You!
I once again appreciate you for reading Tiptoe Tiger and opening your mail. It was my pleasure to put together this week.
Cheerful, cheeky,
